New Hair Products (Paul Mitchell + It's a 10)

Shew! What an intense week.. I finally finished my job training yesterday. And, tomorrow's my first day! As a little incentive/product knowledge, they gave me 7 new products to get to know. Four products from the Paul Mitchell line: Super Skinny Serum, Fast Form, Super Strength Daily Shampoo, and Super Strength Daily Conditioner. And, three products from it's a 10: Miracle Shine Spray, Miracle Firm Hold Gel, and Miracle Leave-In Plus Keratin. I've only tried the Fast Form on myself, and a few clients, and love it so far. I'm wondering if any of you have tried any Paul Mitchell or it's a 10 products? And, any to rave or rant about?

MAC Face & Body swatches!

Along with my MAC Select Cover-Up Concealers, I also received MAC Face & Body Foundation in 5 different shades. I've used these several times on different skin types, and none of them have failed me! The finish is a very natural, yet, lightly dewy look. They work really great for photo-taking occasions like shoots, runway, weddings, etc. Right now, Face & Body retails $32.50 per 4 oz. bottle. It's like MAC Pigments, except in foundation form. At first, the price seems high, but, the product ends up lasting forever. I highly recommend these for make-up artist purposes!

Zoya Envy

The fourth Zoya mani is Envy! It's a super dark mossy green that's only a few shades above black. The picture of the bottle above is definitely lighter because of the flash. In several lightings, Envy does come off looking black. It has a very opaque cream finish. Zoya's site gives it a 5 for intense opaqueness, and, I completely agree! This polish could be good on one coat for experienced polishers. The second coat is the cherry on top for me because it insures an overall even appearance. If you're looking for something out of the ordinary for deeper-hued polishes, Envy may be what you're looking for!

Crown Brush haul!

Ay, ay, ay! It's been a few days! Right now, I'm in the middle of some intense job training, so, forgive me. A few days back, I came home to a lovely package from Crown Brush! Later in March, there's a photo shoot I'll be working on including some pin-up's. My kind of classy women, not the modern day blow-up dolls. There's quite a wish list of supplies for the kit, including more brushes, disposables, and, trying my first 'premade' palette, the 28 Neutral. I'm pretty excited to test these babies and give you guys a quick run down! Here's a teaser..

MAC Select Cover-Up swatches!

When I started hair school, they offered us a student kit from MAC. The original price for everything tallied around $1,000! But, we got a special offer for $450. Included in the kit were these little guys, MAC's Select Cover-Up Concealer. They've worked on every face I've done, except myself. It works on blemishes around my face, but, when it comes to my under-eye wrinkles.. it's a no-go! I've still yet to find a concealer that works on my ultra-creaser wrinkles! Overall, I'd give Select Cover-Up a B+. The reason it's not an A, or an A-, is because I think it's crucial for a concealer to help correct eye wrinkles without creasing. Like I said, this may be my little dream, but, one can hope! These currently retail for $16.50 each at MAC's site. Here are swatches on my roughly NC20 skin:

Revlon Really Red + Pink Pout swatches!

On Valentine's Day, I stopped in Walgreen's to check out Revlon's matte lipsticks. They've been out at least a year now, but, I'm usually late on the good things! This week, Walgreen's has Revlon as apart of their Buy One, Get One 1/2 Off deal in their cosmetics. Perfect opportunity to buy! Mine had low inventory on the mattes, but, I managed to pick up Really Red, and, Pink Pout. I thought it was rather ironic I picked up an opaque duo of Valentine-hued lipsticks on Valentine's! These are really gorgeous colors, and, I can't wait to put them in my palette! They retail for $7.99, which is a steal for the quality. Can't go wrong with a couple great mattes in your collection!

Bringin' It Back: June 2007

Yesterday was kind of gloomy out, so, I thought a colorful look was very deserving! I found another picture to recreate for the Bringin' It Back series. This look was done almost 4 years ago! It was during a time where I felt like I was learning a lot in make-up and had a major step-up from what I was previously doing. There's been several times like that for me. One was last summer, when I had my bright red hair and was doing intense make-up looks every day. My last one was probably in December or January. I'm still learning and trying to improve, but, that's the fun of it! Anyways, another look using MAC's Aquadisiac eyeshadow. Didn't I tell you guys it was my favorite back in the day? I'm still surprised the pan hasn't been hit yet! Wet n' Wild's Turquoise Mega Liner is that gorgeous, vibrant green on the lower lashline. It's only $3 and gives such a great pay-off! Definitely worth it for those who enjoy some bright and fun pieces in their collection.
And, a goof picture for fun!

Adventures in Depotting Eyeshadows!

Lately, I've been stalking Lisa Eldridge's YouTube channel, and picking up a lot of great tips. The other day, I came across her video on lip palettes. I woke up yesterday morning and started immediately digging for things to depot and go through my lipsticks (seen above). I took five of my MAC shadows, and two NYX trios, to the flat iron and depotted them. It's a really simple method that takes a flat iron, a piece of freezer paper, and tweezers. There are several tutorials on YouTube for it, though! MakeupGeekTV has a good one. And, for depotting without heat, ericaleung13 has a good one, as well! It's the third time I've used the flat iron method, and, it hasn't failed me yet.

NYX (right half) L-R: Sweet Lagoon, Aqua, Platinum Silver, Ocean, Opal, Luster.

Valentine's, 02.14.11

Sorry this is a bit belated, but, this is what I wore for Valentine's yesterday! I depotted some eyeshadows including an interesting silver color from NYX, called Platinum Silver. It comes off very sheer, and gives a nice wash. Almost like an antiqued silver. In comparison, it's nothing like MAC's electric Platinum pigment. I went for a more simple, casual smokey that highlighted the eyes naturally. For the lips, I went with MAC's Pink Noveau! It's such an awesome acid-pink. Perfect for Valentine's! I ended up eating at a local sit-down burger stand with my friend, which was delicious. Afterwards, we watched most of Paradise Now before passing out the last half hour! A very interesting film for sure. What'd you guys do for Valentine's?

Make-Up Designory Eye Color swatches!

A few years back, I had a local make-up store named, Lotus. Unfortunately, I found out about it only when it was closing permanently. They had a huge sale going on to which I couldn't resist! That's where I got my Eyemimo lashes, Nixie eyeshadows (discontinued now!), and these gems. Make-up Designory's Eye Color eye shadows. They have some really gorgeous colors. The texture is pretty nice too. The current retail prices are $13.50 for compacts, and $10 for pans. During the sale, they were retailing for $5 each! I bought 3 one visit, and 8 the next. A back-up of Sugared Violet was bought because it's a perfect dupe for MAC's Beautiful Iris! You really can't go wrong with trying the Eye Color line.

Zoya Kelly

Alright, I couldn't wait any longer to try out Zoya's Kelly. Too much excitement for my curious soul! I have to say, for the four days I wore Pinta out, it hardly chipped at all! The little bits on my thumb were from my free edge peeling up some. Other than that, it was still pretty perfect. Now, Kelly is a super gorgeous dark, rich, cool-toned grey. The formula is an opaque cream. Two coats will set you right! This one won't disappoint for sure.

Deep Truth, 02.12.11

Okay, okay. I decided to do one more Wonder Woman face chart for my MAC counter visit today. The Deep Truth face chart is really simple, and dramatic. It only took me maybe 20 minutes to do my entire face including lashes. Pretty good for me! I posted a few days back on this face chart's error on MAC's site. It shows a morbid-look on the page of products, but, if you open up the .pdf file, you'll get the sultry, midnight-blue smokey eye. When I visited the counter, they had more of a dark mossy color instead of blue. But, the face chart is called Deep Truth, so, I made it all about Deep Truth eyeshadow! It's too gorgeous! I highly recommend it to everyone. The lips were also a nice surprise for me. Just NYX Purple Rain lip liner with MAC's Viva Glam Gaga on top make an incredible combo! Enjoy!
Excited for MAC!

MAC haul ( Wonder Woman ) + swatches!

Today is totally epic. The weather is beautiful, I'm having some great visitors tonight, and, I bought something from MAC for the first time in about a year! So, this is one of the last times you'll probably have to see me talk on forever about MAC's Wonder Woman collection! I finally have it! My counter was already sold out of the Amazon Princess Blush Duo, so, I got Mighty Aphrodite. At first, there was doubt. The whole peachy-coral has been everywhere, and especially, in my collection. I was wanting Amazon Princess because I'm lacking a good cool-toned pink/berry color in my kit. But, after it was broke out of the box, and opened, it was love. It made me remember why I have so many peachy-corals in my collection in the first place. It's beautiful, that's why! And, Athena's Kiss was irresistible to me. The color, amount of product, packaging, and size couldn't be any more gaudy for my taste! I picked up a Turquatic perfume as well. It's my HG scent! Prepare for some silly:
