CORALista looks, 12.29.10

This year, one of my make-up resolutions I came up with was not to depend on Benefit's CORALista blush every day! I bought it in March 2009 and used it for most of the following nine months. But, can you blame me? It's such a gorgeous blush! I usually don't like make-up products with scent to them, especially powder products, but I do enjoy CORALista's scent! The most important factor in blush, for me, is the "blend-ability." And CORALista is the best one I've come across by far that blends flawlessly on the face. It layers very nicely too! The last few days, I've been using it like a mad woman! I figure that most of the year, I've used the rest of my blushes. Now, it's CORALista's turn! Here are pictures and two looks using it:
The first day I did a look with a retro-feel to it. Highlighted eyes, and a light red glossy lip.
NYX Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil in Milk, CORALista, MAC Rich & Ripe l/g, Soap&Glory Plum Juice SMP
The next day I did more of a raw smokey splayed out from the eyeliner!
NYX Milk, Wet n' Wild Greed cream and black, KIKO no.34 e/s, CORALista, MAC Blowdry l/s, Soap&Glory Plum Juice SMP

Purple Smokes, 12.24.10

This year, Christmas was pretty dull outside! We didn't get anything remotely exciting except for those dark grey clouds that just happen to damper my pictures! Luckily, before I visited my parents, I packed some colorful clothes. To match without being too tacky, I decided on a very wearable purple smokey eye. My MAC variety palette was looking rather sad before the trip, so it was packed up as well. MAC's Sketch and Nocturnelle were the main eyeshadows used for the look. Although it'll never live up to my favorite, Pink Opal, I tried out Seedy Pearl on the inner corner. It turned out nice in person! The flash ended up washing everything out because of the weather being darker. Boo! But, you get the gist of it. And, check out those roots! Enjoy!
Beetle polish always looks purple with flash!

Wet n' Wild Color Icon palette in Vanity (249) swatches + review!

The final Color Icon palette post is here! I'm really happy this one happens to be the last one posted because it hasn't let me down a single time. Wet n' Wild's Color Icon palette in Vanity is filled to the brim with neutrals! I think this is some of the best light neutrals you can put in a 6-pan palette. Vanity's matte colors are a light cream, medium camel brown, and a deep red-brown. The shimmer colors are an iced gold, vibrant gold, and a rich golden-brown. This palette has been my go-to out of all 4 palettes. Keep in mind I am a pretty pale human myself. For anyone that knows MAC, I range from an NC17-NC25 at the very darkest. I've used it several times and love every eyeshadow in it! Even the golds haven't let me down. I do have to say.. the mattes are GREAT. The light cream has so much versatility. The camel brown has been used for my brows, for a transition color, for a neutral look, and for a smokey as well. The deep red-brown is great for brows, liner, smokeys, you name it. I give it an A+! End of story! Here are pictures and swatches, enjoy!

Hard Candy Beetle swatches!

Shew! What a day! Well, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and yours. I hope every one's day went well! Yesterday, I ended up painting my nails with Hard Candy's new nail polish, Beetle. It's supposed to be the $4 dupe of MAC's Mean and Green from the Venomous Villains collections, as well as Orly's Space Cadet from their Cosmic FX collection. The finish is like a.. infinichrome polish, haha. Although the name says it all, I like to think it also reminds me of oil spill rainbows. The prime colors are a red-violet, and an olive green-gold mix. I've also seen rust, and brown undertones! Kelly over at Vampy Varnish posted an awesome swatch comparison between the three polishes here. In my opinion, unless you're a collector, there's not enough difference to pay the extra cash! Beetle fulfills my heart, and isn't limited edition. Five stars Hard Candy!

Glow On Sister!, 12.22.10

Yep, the Holidays are upon us when I start cracking cheesier and cheesier titles, haha. Yesterday, I wanted to do a super glowy and angelic-feeling look. Of course, in my world, that ends up looking different than the usual idea of things! It ended up having more of a retro vibe as well because my brows were really structured instead of natural or soft, and I paired two different red lips with it! First off, my love, MAC's Russian Red. And second, I added MAC's Media and attempted to dust the Reflects Blackened Red on top, but it ended up blending in like a pigment instead! I'll have to play with it a little more sometime. For the eyes, I loved how they turned out. I've always loved more lighter neutrals on myself because they darken my eyes, in person, to more of a charcoal grey with flecks of light. The star of the show is my new NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk. It was dying to be used, so I took the opportunity. If you can imagine, I highlighted six different parts of my face with Milk! Four places on the eyes and two on the face. Let's see if you can spot them!
Welcome to the right side of my face for once!

Holiday polish shoppin'!

Last night, I ran by Wal-Mart and decided to check the Hard Candy section for fun. The last few I went to were already out of the ever-so-elusive Beetle, and with luck, I had success here! It kind of put me in the mode for some polish shopping after that! My boy said he'd buy me that and one of the "glitter nail polishes from CVS." I had shown him swatches from Vampy Varnish the week before of Milani's new polish line, Rockstar Heavy Glitter Nail Lacquer's. And, he liked the blue one best. Luckily, Blue Flash was still in stock, as well as Silver Dazzle. I was super thrilled because I've never seen a dark grey glitter polish before. But, I'm still on the hunt for Purple Gleam though! The last two are from none other than Wet n' Wild. CVS currently has a Buy One, Get One 50% off this week and had a few polishes that caught my eye. There is a new Megalast color in (204A) Private Viewing that's a gorgeous peachy-nude color. I thought it was perfect because I've really been interested in the idea of 'mannequin hands', but never had anything this close to my skintone! The Wild Shine polish is in the shade Rain Check. It's a light periwinkle blue with a silver chrome finish to it. I think it'll work really well for just about any time of the year! Anyways, on to pictures!
And, with my last piece of the haul that I teased about last night!

Silver Bells, 12.21.10

Well, look at this! I broke several of my habits with the look I did yesterday. ..I'm pretty proud! For one, silver eyeshadow has been my sort-of equivalent to peoples loathing of 80's blue eyeshadow. Through high school and the last few years, I've just seen a lot of girls with my not particular choice of lifestyle ('super hussies') wear silver eyeshadow in all kinds of the wrong way, haha. A silver smokey eye at that! I also did shimmer all over before putting MAC's Scene shadow in the crease, which it still remained shimmery. And lastly, I did a more amped up nude lip! The Spice lip liner darkened it for sure, but with Blankety and Myth on top? I'm calling it a bold nude lip! In the morning, I did a glossy warm red lip for the model haircut at the salon I am applying to. It worked out pretty alright, but with the outfit I was wearing, a more neutral lip meshed better. Now, with the pictures.. everything turned out well except for the eyeshadow dimension. It comes off a lot lighter in pictures than it did 'in real life'. But, I'm attributing that to shimmer being all over the lid and the light not reflecting correctly! Now for the look!In the afternoon with the 'bold nude'.
Yay for matching silver nails! It's definitely Holiday-time, haha.

look what I finally got a hold of..

Woo-hoo! NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk! I know it's been out for ages now.. but, for now, let me bask in my material happiness, haha. :)

Tonight, I also did a nail polish haul that I am really proud of! I'll post that tomorrow, so watch out for that!

Sephora Metallic Polish in Rock swatches!

So, I know that I mentioned I would swatch China Glaze Cords next.. but, I remembered that I bought the Sephora Metallic Polish in Rock in the Friends & Family sale in October! And, it looked so tempting for the Holiday time, haha. I tried it out this morning for my model demo to apply to a salon this morning, which went really well. Off subject for a second, I got to cut my friend's hair off and I'm so happy because it looks so good on her! Okay, back to nail polish. This Rock polish has the metallic finish, of course. It actually reminds me of taking the silver Sharpie marker on nails, except better! The formula is pretty good itself. When applied, it does the streaky thing, but, it's not much of a surprise to me. The bottle was way smaller than I expected. It only contains .16oz of product where as Seche Vite has .5oz. So, about a third of the product than normal polish standards! I paid $3 on sale for it during Friends & Family. Unfortunately, I just found out Sephora doesn't sell these anymore. It's really a toss up whether that's a good or a bad thing. The formula is okay, the price (originally $5) is definitely steep for the amount of product. The closest polish that comes to mind is China Glaze's Millennium, which might be a shade or two darker. Here are your swatches!
