summer smoked bronze, 07.26.10

The other day, I realized I hadn't done a true summer look yet. And I know there isn't any true definition to seasonal looks. Especially in summer when everyone breaks out their tinted moisturizer and keeps it simple! I mean those true bronzes, and rich browns. The ones that compliment skin that's been tanned and sunkissed! So, I went through my inspiration folder and found some great ideas and combined them into this look.. and deep brown smokey eye with plenty of jazz for a night out in the summertime! And hey! I think this look could definitely be pulled into the fall/winter time as well. Enjoy the look, but first... a picture of me without make-up for comparison!
...and after!

a chill summer date, 07.18.10

Here's my everyday summer look so far.. really neutral with some of that VG Gaga on the lips and gloss. On occasions like this, you have to keep it simple during July in Kansas. That's for sure! We went and saw Inception, which was awesome! Enjoy--

sparkler action, 07.02.10

Woo-hoo! With a name like that, you know there's bound to be some glitter involved. MAC Reflects Gold that is! I went and hung out with some friends to shoot off some minimal fireworks and just catch up. It was a great time, and in the end, we had a police officer apologizing for having to tell us to stop shooting the works off at 11pm. For the look itself, I wanted something that was a little toned down, yet something that would compliment the Reflects Gold. Hope you like!

birfday boy, 07.01.10

Aaaand, right back to bright and outrageous! My boy's 22nd was a while back, and I had him choose some colors for me to put together. He choose blue, purple, and orange. I loved the idea and rolled with it! Unfortunately, the pictures didn't do justice to how bomb-diggity the look was in person! It looked like shimmer city all over the eyes, but there was definitely more matte detail to it, especially with Make-Up Forever's no.92 in the crease. I also paired the juicy red lips because that's his favorite lip. Enjoy!

casual metal, 06.30.10

Alright! Finally, a pretty simple look! A few weeks back, I visited my local Sally's Beauty Supply and found some great .99 cent baked eyeshadows from Sally's Girl. They're meant to be used wet or dry; but in my experiments, wet has worked better. Now, you can't expect much from an eyeshadow under $1, but give it a little effort and it'll work somehow! I introduced the shadow to Urban Decay's Primer Potion, and BAM. Worked like a dream!

devil's dirty work, 06.28.10

Hello again! So, the look I pulled off this time wasn't so much artistic, avant garde, or editorial. This one was pulled straight from a feeling. I went to the dentist right before I did this look, and the day before. Two days? Yeah.. When you love sugar as much as I do, those 6 fillings will come rumbling and tumbling in eventually! Every element of the look dealt in the experience as well. It was an interesting time for sure!

wedding day, 06.26.10

Yay! A few weeks ago, a couple of my friends, Grace & Tim, were married! I met Grace in my art classes last year, and Tim, a little while afterward. It was a humid day out, so I went simple with a summer glow. The wedding and reception were both completely laid-back and chill. It was definitely a good time! Bonus pictures this time!

ne0n_dice's challenge, 06.25.10

So, the lovely Rachel/ne0n_dice gave me a collage photo from a girl that had done a slew of intense looks! I loved the colors so, so much and had a great time recreating it! It kind of reminds me of a modern Barbie look on acid. Classy right? This is hands down one of my favorite looks I've done to date! Enjoy-

MAC to the Beach Firecracker/ode to my hair, 06.22.10

Lately, I've been saving just about every MAC face charts in the archives! I decided to try out a recent one from the MAC to the Beach collection that debuted in May. The face chart is called Firecracker, named after one of the collection's limited edition eye shadows! I wanted to try this one out because it was simply dramatic. Almost like drag make-up in the summertime, if that makes any sense! The main reason though is my new color job. Everything I did before this was so contrasting in the worst way, I wanted something I know would mesh well. Luckily, it turned out instead of making me look like a cheap flamejob on a classic car, haha. Hope you like!

white elephant poison, 06.21.10

Yay! My first post based on art. A few years back, I stumbled across Camille Rose Garcia's work and fell in love! Many of her pieces have easily earned their way into my inspiration files for further looks because of their awesome qualities. Each one has it's own complicated detail with layers, color, line detail, and textures. They each have perfect balance and harmony. At least that's what I interpret them as! So, this look is based on one of my top favorites, 'White Elephant Poison'. It was created in 2006 and is featured in her collection, 'Dreamtime Escape Plan'. Enjoy!
